Nadella appoints as the CEO of Internet giant Microsoft. 46-year-old Nadella,
who takes over as the third CEO after Bill Gates and Steve Balmer. The company
announced that Nadella will replace Steve Ballmer, who said in August that he
would leave the company within 12 months. Satya Nadella has worked at Microsoft
for 22 years, has been an executive in some of the company’s fastest-growing
and most profitable businesses, including its Office and server and tools
business. Nadella emphasized on innovation, which he said would be his key
focus. "While we have seen great success, we are hungry to do more. Our
industry does not respect tradition -- it only respects innovation. This is a
critical time for the industry and for Microsoft."
Nadella said he is
there to change the world through technology that empowers people to do amazing
things. "I believe over the next decade computing will become even more
ubiquitous and intelligence will become ambient," he said.
