Popular social media website Facebook is shutting down their messenger app for Windows on March 3, nearly two years to the day after the application’s debut, and the social network is pointing Messenger for Windows users toward the Facebook desktop site, as well as its upcoming Windows Phone release. Facebook Messenger for Windows users have been receiving a message from the social network saying that the app is shutting down next week without giving any reasons or further details.
“We’re sorry, but we can no longer support Facebook Messenger for Windows, and it will stop working on March 3, 2014.”
Facebook Messenger for Windows users has been receiving this message from Facebook. Three days before at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, Microsoft announced Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone would arrive in just a few weeks.
