The new Xperia Z from Sony is the world's slimmest (6.9mm) and lightest (495 grams) 10.1-inch tablet. By comparison, the fourth generation iPad is 9.4mm thick and weighs 662 grams. To show up the competition even further, it is also waterproof and dustproof. It has a full HD 10.1-inch screen, Android 4.1, 1.5Ghz quad core processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage (expandable via microSD) and a 6,000 mAh battery. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi, 3G (4G support included), Bluetooth and NFC. It comes with an 8MP Exmor R camera that has a back-illuminated sensor for better low light photography. The tablet is expected to be launched in Japan first, in the second quarter of 2013, but there's no word on price yet. If it does get launched in other markets, a US$ 500 starting price is expected.
