Apple Inc launched 8-inch iPad tablet on Tuesday. Launching a smaller version of the gadget into a market staked out by Amazon and Google. The 7.9 inch “iPad mini” marks Apple's first foray into the smaller-tablet segment. Apple also announced a fourth-generation fullsized iPad with improvements in graphics and processing speeds. The iPad mini will cost $329 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model. The 32GB Wi-Fi edition will be $429, with the 64GB model at $529 and ships from November 2. The Wi-Fi plus cellular versions will be $459, $559 and $659, respectively. Apple hopes to beat back competitors’ charge while safeguarding its lead in the larger tablet space.
