Facebook has finally launched an official app for the iPad. It offers a superior experience compared to third-party apps. It displays the news feed in portrait mode, but in landscape mode, the display splits to show the regular Facebook news feed one one side and Facebook chat in a sidebar - just as you would see on a desktop web browser. Notifications are highlighted on the top and clicking on any notification slides in the relevant post from the right. To go back to the news feed, simply slide the current view out by swiping to the right. Photos and videos can be viewed within the app and can be controlled using multi-touch gestures. If you have an iPad 2 (with a built in camera), the app allows you to post images and videos recorded off from either front or rear camera. Though it's a little strange that you cannot exit the camera without taking an image first.
