Amazon's new 7-inch Android tablet may not be an iPad killer, but priced at $199, the Kindle Fire is definitely going to shake things up, especially considering Amazon's clout. The fire includes a 1024x600 pixel IPS display (better viewing angles, better colours), a dual core processor and 8GB onboard storage (with unlimited free cloud storage for Amazon content). It weighs 413g, has a 3.5mm audio jack and top-mounted stereo speakers. A micro USB port is present for wired connectivity and Wi-Fi takes care of wireless connectivity. Battery life is claimed to be of 8 hours of continuous reading and it supports charging via microUSB. Downsides? No cameras and it does not have Android Market access - only Amazon's own app store.
