The much-awaited $35 tablet has finally been launched in India. Earlier called the Sakshat, the 7-inch tablet has been renamed to Aakash and is manufactured by UK based Datawind. The tablet has a resistive touchscreen with a resolution of 800x400 pixels. Inside is a 366Mhz processor, 256MB RAM, 2GB internal storage, graphics accelerator and HD video co-processor. The storage can be expanded via microSD card (up to 32GB supported). There are also two full-size USB ports to connect a keyboard, webcam or flash drive. Wireless connectivity is taken care of by GPRS and Wi-Fi. Running Android 2.2, the device comes preloaded with a document reader, pdf viewer, YouTube application, UBISurfer browser and Nimbuzz messenger.
